Supreme Council for Health: Bahrain Spends 15% of Its Public Health Budget on Diabetes Treatment
The President of the Supreme Council for Health, Dr. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, announced that Bahrain allocates 15% of its public health budget to the treatment of diabetes. During the Bahrain Diabetes and Endocrinology Conference, which saw significant participation from specialists and institutions, it was highlighted that the prevalence of diabetes in the region is rising, posing substantial challenges to the healthcare system. The conference emphasized the importance of modern technology in improving diabetes care and reducing complications. Dr. Wiam Hussein, Senior Consultant Endocrinologist, stressed the need for comprehensive strategies to manage the increasing diabetes rates effectively, with a focus on early diagnosis, treatment, and prevention strategies. The event underscored the collective efforts required to address the growing impact of diabetes in Bahrain and the wider region.
