Stepping Up the Fight Against Diabetes

On World Diabetes Day, experts and health officials in Bahrain emphasized the importance of raising awareness about diabetes prevention and promoting a healthier lifestyle. The event focused on this year's theme, "Access to Diabetes Care: If Not Now, When?" It highlighted the urgent need to address the growing number of diabetes cases globally and locally.

Speakers at the event, including Dr. Shaikh Mohammed and Ms. Al Saleh, discussed the increasing prevalence of diabetes, particularly among children, and the need for comprehensive strategies to prevent and manage the disease. The article also highlights Bahrain's efforts in managing diabetes through its national health plans and the importance of physical activity and healthy eating in preventing type 2 diabetes.

Dr. Wiam Hussein, in his segment, emphasized the global burden of diabetes, noting that more than 400 million people are living with the disease. He discussed the challenges of providing adequate care and stressed the importance of access to treatment and medications for all patients, particularly in preventing complications associated with diabetes.
