Dr. Wiam Hussein, a consultant in endocrinology and diabetes, has revealed that 22% of Bahrain's population suffers from diabetes, making it one of the most prevalent chronic diseases in the region. The situation is worsening globally, with over 385 million people affected by diabetes worldwide. During a global conference on diabetes held in Sydney, Australia, Dr. Hussein emphasized the importance of modern technology in diabetes treatment and the need for early detection to manage the disease effectively. The International Diabetes Federation has reported that diabetes claimed the lives of 5.1 million people worldwide in 2013 due to its complications.
