New Hormone for Thyroid Cancer Patients to be Used for the First Time in Bahrain

Dr. Wiam Hussein, a consultant endocrinologist and diabetes specialist, announced the introduction of a new hormone, Thyrogen, for thyroid cancer patients at the Gulf Diabetes Specialist Center in Bahrain. This is the first time Thyrogen will be used in Bahrain. The hormone helps in the diagnosis and treatment of thyroid cancer by allowing accurate scans without the need to stop thyroid hormone therapy, thereby avoiding the side effects of hormone withdrawal. The treatment, approved by the health authority, is expected to improve the quality of life for patients by facilitating the elimination of any remaining cancer cells post-surgery, with minimal side effects
